WYF Playlist: League of Justice

By March 26, 2021WYF Playlists

Hello friends,

I came here today with an idea I had a few episodes ago but never really pulled the trigger on for whatever reason, until today! So I am going to try to have these ready for each week and will try to theme them to the episode we are set to record. I mean this week is a pretty simple one, each song on the list will have something to do with Justice League: The Snyder Cut.

And this selection is strictly my own strange and whack song selection, because as every human knows, I have the best taste in music. Which is kind of absurd, but that is what humanity looks like in the year 2021. Going to aim to keep the playlist to roughly an hour in length, how many songs that will take will change week to week, but generally I am thinking roughly 15-20 songs.

So with that out of the way let’s get started, the link to this week playlist is right…HERE.

1. Superman’s Dead/Our Lady Peace/Clumsy (1996): This one is a pretty easy one off the bat. The catalyst to the story itself, Superman is well…dead. But also any chance I get to spread the love of my angsty Canadian Edge 102 youth, I will take that opportunity!

2. Batman/Jaden/SYRE (2017): I mean, just look at the song title. Also just wanted to say Jaden is a weird ass kid, but there’s a charm to it and while I feel he isn’t where he wants to be musically yet, I think he is on the right course and just needs to experiment more and more.

3. Wonderwall/Oasis/(What’s The Story)Morning Glory? (1995): A Wonderwall for a Wonder Woman. This is also one of the most overplayed karaoke songs ever, kinda makes sense in a way, you don’t have to be a good singer to sing this, the more nasal you sound the better.

4. Swim Good/Frank Ocean/Swim Good (2010): Not going to do some Iceland folk song here, instead this gives me a chance to add Frank Ocean to the list. Because any chance I get to add Frank Ocean, best believe I will take it!

5. The Message/Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five/The Message (1982): I really wanted to add a Grandmaster Flash track for the Flash, just seemed like a good time to kick it really old school.

6. Machinehead/Bush/Sixteen Stone (1994): For the literal machinehead of the league, I give you this classic 90’s track from Gavin Rossdale and the boys of Bush, formerly Bush-X. That’s a Canadian inside joke since Bush had to change their name because of the 1970’s Canadian band that also went by Bush. And now you know.

7. The Great Gig in the Sky/Pink Floyd/The Dark Side of the Moon (1973): I am the cleverest boy in all the cleverest towns. But also this track and this album kick some ass, honestly if you haven’t had an entire playthrough, you have to do yourself the favour! Also this for Darkseid…just in case.

8. Magic Carpet Ride/Steppenwolf/The Second (1968): I mean just look at the name of the band, how could I not? Does it relate to the character in any sense? No, but this was always one my session playlist favourites.

9. Life on Mars?/David Bowie/Hunky Dory (1970): Not going to give this one away, just in case. But also this is an awesome track by legend that is David Bowie. High praises for the Starman.

10. Creep/Radiohead/Pablo Honey (1993): Jared Leto’s Joker, not sure if good because he was super gross or if it was gross because he wasn’t good at all. Needless to say, strong creep vibes for sure, this seemed appropriate.

11. Squad Up/Method Man, Streetlife and Havoc/Squad Up (2019): This is one for the team, although now that I think about it I think I could have added Triumph by the Wu-Tang Clan here, well at least we get Mr.Meth here.

12. IFHY/Tyler, The Creator/WOLF (2013): This song I selected for Mera, more specifically the actress who plays her in the movie. IFHY stands for I F**king Hate You.

13. Deadpool Rap/Teamheadkick/ Deadpool Soundtrack (2015): This is me being super cheeky and meta. When you get it, just have a slow clap for me.

14. Zack and Codeine/Post Malone/Beerbongs & Bentleys (2018): A song for the man behind the chair, kind like a party track to celebrate the release of this dream project.

15. Hallelujah/Leonard Cohen/Various Positions (1984): This is the bonus track, I felt it was a good way to end the playlist. I think this was the song on the first trailer that was released, the one during the Superbowl.

So there you have it friends, I hope you enjoy it. And if you did listen through it, let me know what you thought? Does it mix well? Do the songs make sense with the theme? What songs would you add? Let me know in the comments below and if you really liked it, make sure to spread this out like frogs in the plague.

Thank you again, and stay tuned for our next episode!
